Description
62% Cinsault (Castano Vineyards)
23% Grenache (Lahey Vineyards)
8% Tempranillo (Timmons Estate Vineyards)
7% Carignane (Timmons Estate Vineyards)
Rosès are a very popular style, and while it is common to see every shade of pink under the sun, and just about as many varietal variations, our goal is to harvest the grapes at their optimum ripeness for a rosè and then try to make the most expressive wine possible. All of our Plateau offerings are blends which are created to accentuate the fruit and deliver a wine with a multitude of complexities and flavors; all the while producing a wine that is reflective of an international regional style. The fruit is hand harvested and whole cluster pressed so that the final color is light and delicate and the actual tannins are soft and melt into the finish. Each of the different varieties brings its own personality to the blend, but ideally, red berry notes are first and foremost, ranging from strawberry jam to raspberry and black cherry. Cinsault and Grenache do most of talking, while the added structure comes from the Tempranillo and Carignane. The acidity is crisp and the residual sugar is balanced against the overall structure to insure a wine that is drinkable, and has some potential for aging. Plateau Rosè is a little bit southern French and a little Basque in composition, but this rosè is juicy and has a very nice texture, from start to finish.
